Paul Kermit Prellwitz, 80, of Ripon, WI, died Monday evening, July 24, 2000, at Michalenes in Ripon where he had lived the past 3 months.
He was born September 6, 1919, in Princeton, a son to the late Albert L. and Ida Bertha (Roehl) Prellwitz. He attended school in Ripon, and joined the National Guard at the age of 16. Paul served in the Army Infantry in New Guinea and Australia during WWII. After the war he re-enlisted and served in Germany where he met and married Rita Frieda Kess on September 2, 1950, in Wurzburg, Germany. Until retirement, he had been a factory worker for 30 years at Speed Queen. He had lived in Ripon most of his life and was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ and V.F.W. Post #5278 of Ripon.
He is survived by wife, Rita of Ripon; two sisters, Leona Steinke and Gertrude (Harold) Krause, and one brother, Lawrence (Irene) Prellwitz, all of Ripon, many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Glen and Albert, Jr. preceded him in death.
Funeral service for Paul K. Prellwitz will be 6:30 pm Thursday, July 27, 2000, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 6 pm at the funeral home; followed by a V.F.W service at 6:00 pm. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials in his name to Our Saviours United Church of Christ.
