Peggy J. Moodie

June 30, 1945 — May 31, 2024

Ripon

Peggy J. Moodie, age 78, of Ripon, passed away peacefully at her home when her Lord and Savior carried her to her heavenly home on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Peggy was born on June 30, 1945, to Lawrence and Hazel (Koentopp) Below at Ripon Municipal Hospital and was a life-long resident of Ripon. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Faith at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (Our Saviours United Church of Christ).

She graduated from Ripon High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart, Lynn E. Moodie, on March 6, 1965, at Ripon Baptist Church. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage when the Lord called Lynn home to be with Him. Together they raised three children and by their examples provided them a solid foundation in Christ and demonstrated sound personal character as well as strong work ethics.

She was instrumental in her husband’s success and worked alongside him when he built their home and other houses and took care of the bookkeeping for the businesses.

She faithfully served the church with her clerical skills and was a homemaker until she re-entered the workforce in 1977. She retired from her position as Office Manager at the USDA-Processed Products Branch in Oshkosh, WI after 35 years of service. During her time there, she received numerous accolades and service awards due to her efficiency and attention to detail which garnered her office many exemplary audit results. She was called upon to assist in the development and testing of new software and to subsequently travel to other USDA locations throughout the United States to provide training.

She devotedly attended school, sporting, recital and concert events for her children and grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader. She had pride in each of their accomplishments and successes. She also had a competitive nature and enjoyed bowling, yelling at the TV during Packer games and a rousing game of Liverpool or Uno.

Peggy was a quiet and unassuming person who never liked to call attention to herself. She placed her family as her first priority and was selfless in the sacrifices she made for them. She was a wonderful cook and baker who could whip up a complete three-course meal seemingly out of thin air and in short order when unexpected guests arrived. After the kids were grown, she and Lynn continued to travel and they made several road trips through all 50 states excluding Hawaii. Their trip to Alaska with a travel trailer was her favorite. She enjoyed the solitude of taking drives with her car and mowing their properties.

Peggy is survived by her children, Kristine (Terry) Feil of Randolph, Kevin (Susan) Moodie of Oshkosh and Kyle (fiancée Stephanie Borgardt) Moodie of Ripon; her grandchildren, Erik Moodie, Katelyn Moodie and Brett Moodie all of Oshkosh; her sister, Andrea (Darl) Mount of Murphy, TX; her brothers-in-law, David (Virginia) Moodie of Whiting, Larry (Brenda) Moodie of Kronenwetter and Robert (Eloise) Moodie of Plover. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by: her husband and her parents; her in-laws Walter and Glenna (Giffey) Moodie; her aunt, Caroline (Koentopp) Chaffin; a cousin Carol (Chaffin) Frailing; an infant sister, Paulette Below; and a great-niece, Faith Moodie.
