Phillip Merigold

Phillip “Chris” Merigold, age 49, of Green Lake, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, as a result of a traffic accident in Dodge County.

He was born May 26, 1949, in Portage, a son to Walter C. and Caroline “Karen” Merigold. He was a graduate of Green Lake High School and UW-Oshkosh, and was currently employed as Business Manager for the State of WI-Dodge Correctional. He was a member of the Green Lake Wooden Boat Club, Harley Owners Group of Fond du Lac and Wooden Canoe Heritage Association. On September 4, 1982 he married Virginia “Ginnie” (Jaeger) Shane.

Survivors include his wife, Ginnie Merigold of Green Lake; 1 son, Benjamin Merigold of Waukesha; stepson, Peter Shane of Milwaukee, stepdaughter, Stacia Shane of Boulder, CO; 2 sisters, Karen Kuyper of Clearwater, FL and Sandi (Stephen) Huber of Green Lake; nieces & nephews, Michael, Tracy, Erika and Jessica; 2 aunts, Louise Metzgar of Green Lake and Marianna Cariglio of Chugiak, AK; father-in-law, Oswald Jaeger of Green Lake and many special relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In honor of his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be Saturday, May 1, 1999, from 1 until 4 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A Memorial has been established with donations going to the Tree Planting Program in Green Lake. Gifts may be directed to the family.

He has touched the hearts and souls of many people throughout his lifetime, and will be remembered as a good man, husband and father.
