Phyllis Smith

Phyllis Betty (Mrs. Floyd) Steineke Smith, age 71, of Ripon, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at St Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

She was born April 9, 1926, in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Gayheart William and Sophia Elizabeth (Meilahn) Steineke. She was educated in the
Ripon Public Schools. On January 16, 1943 she married Floyd Donald Smith in Ripon. He passed away on February 14, 1963. Phyllis worked at the Ripon Variety Store (1964-1965), Sears-Roebuck, Ripon (1965-1979) and Ripon Memorial Hospital (1979-1985). She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and the Priscilla Circle of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by 8 children, Constance Kay Smith of Green Bay, Janet Carol (Mrs. William) Crook of Ripon, Scott Alan (Karen) Smith of Ripon, Bruce
Wayne (Rita) Smith of Berlin, Gayle Sue (Mrs. Terran) Cain of Ripon, Ronald Lynn (Mary) Smith of Ripon, Nedra Beth (Mrs. Willard) Smith of Madison and Mark Lee Smith of Ripon; 13 grandchildren and I great-grandchild; I sister, Dorothy June Steineke Morgan of Watertown; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gayheart Steineke (1949), husband, Floyd Smith (1963), mother, Sophia Steineke (1980) and I brother, Donald Douglas Steineke (1981).

Funeral service will be Friday, June 20, 1997, at 7 PM at lmmanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon with the Rev. David Busker officiating. Friends may call Friday from 3 PM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Garden of the Cross, Ripon. A Memorial has been established.
