Phyllis Suksi, age 91, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Michalene’s Assisted Living Facility in Ripon, with her good friend Dorothy Evensen by her side.
Phyllis was born May 20, 1922, in Iron River, MI, the daughter of Ero and Lena (Kosky) Alanen. She was a graduate of Stambaugh High School and Business School in Detroit, MI. In 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Francis Suksi in Iron River, MI. She worked as a paralegal at the Department of Defense, Washington D.C. and Entertainment Law Firms in Chicago, IL for thirty plus years. Phyllis was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Dean) Evensen, Ripon, WI; sons: William (Holly) Suksi, Laurel, DE, and Eugene (Nancy) Suksi, Crescent City, CA; grandsons: Eric Evensen, Omro, WI, and Bill “Bear” (Crystal) Suksi, Prescott Valley, AZ; and one great-granddaughter, Brianna Suksi, Strawberry, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ero and Lena Alanen; husband, Francis Suksi, and two brothers: Ero and Eugene Alanen.
A memorial service for Phyllis Suksi will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Phyllis’ home town of Iron River, Michigan to celebrate her life. Luncheon will follow at Pine Acres Pub, 18400 Wisconsin 55, Long Lake, WI 54542. Memorials in her name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Pre-School, 430 Griswold Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
