Ralph "Rusty" Morton

Ralph “Rusty” L. Morton, age 69, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, due to complications of Leukemia at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph was born June 9, 1945, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of John B. and Lucile B. (Mosling) Morton. He was educated at Merrill School and graduated from Oshkosh West High School. He went to U.S. Navy Training School for Diesel Engineman “A”. Ralph was a Vietnam Veteran serving our country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1966. In 1975, he married Patricia Harbin Hurst in Oshkosh. Ralph was employed as an axle assembler for Oshkosh Corporation. After retiring from Oshkosh Corporation, Ralph was employed by Ralph’s Snow Plowing in Ripon. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon. Ralph was a mechanic and tinkerer at heart.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Patricia Morton of Ripon, WI; five children, Michael (Rose) Morton of Surprise, AZ, Robin L. Ingram of Fond du Lac, WI, Donna E. Hurst of Ripon, WI, Sheri L. (Jason) Walsh of Ripon, WI and Keith J. Hurst Jr. of Oshkosh, WI; ten grandchildren, Beau Wrzinski of Oshkosh, WI, Josh (Val) Ammeter of Fond du Lac, WI, Logan (Yas) Sobczak of Appleton, WI, Josh, Michael Jr. and Gunnar Morton all of Surprise, AZ, Nichole L. (Rob) Rivera of Menominee Falls, WI, Kaelyn Hurst of Oshkosh, WI and Bailey Morton of AZ; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Adrian, Aliya, Lily, Noah and Brayden; one sister, Lynne (Jim) McKnight of Winter Park, FL, one brother, Paul (Karen) Morton of Neenah, WI and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John G. Morton in 2009 and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation for Ralph will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 9 – 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 217 Houston St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Memorial service for Ralph will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon. Father Thomas H. McAlpine will officiate. A private inurnment will be held at Omro Cemetery in Omro at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established. Per Ralph’s request, casual dress for visitation and service.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to Dr. Gremminger and Dr. Davis and the staff at the Oncology department. Also to the wonderful nurses and staff at PCU2 at Mercy Medical Center and Adam, Sue, Karen and Katie of ICU for the loving care they gave to Ralph and his family.
