Ramona Kessler

RAMONA JEAN KOHL KESSLER, 90, formerly of Ripon, passed away on June 14, 2003, in Spooner, WI.

Ramona Jean Kohl was born October1, 1912 to Ceylon and Mildred Kohl in Ripon Wisconsin. Mona attended Layton Art School, Milwaukee. She married Alex (Bud) Kessler on March 2, 1935 in Plymouth, WI. They had three children, William, Judith and Jean. They lived in Ripon, WI, East Troy, WI, Oconomowoc WI, Monroe, WI, Monsteratt, B.W.I., and Green Lake, WI. Most recently Ramona lived in Spooner,WI.

She is survived by: two sisters, Ruth (Billie), wife of Myron (Doc) Scheid and Katherine (Kay), wife of Robert Simmons; two daughters Judy Kessler of Westchester, IL, and Jean Kissack of Spooner, WI, 4 grandchildren: Robert Filek, Lynn Greenwell, Julie Fera, Patrick Kissack, and 5 great grandchildren: Mathew and Michael Filek, Zachary and Coulter Greenwell, and Thomas Kissack. She is also survived by nieces, Katherine Scheid, Susan Manthei, Janet Simmons, Pat Bartlien, and nephews Fred Kessler and Allen Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, William in 1957, spouse in 1988.


Ramona was a lifetime member of Saint Peters Episcopal Church in Ripon, and the Ripon Historical Society. As an artist, she was active in community art work, and she taught and sold her artwork in the West Indies in her retirement years.
A memorial service will be held for Ramona on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 11:00 at St. Peters Episcopal Church with the Rev. Kenneth Guy Officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established in her name.
