Raymond Dodge

Raymond A. Dodge, 76, of Green Lake West, died Thursday, November 10, 1994, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI.

He was born November 12, 1917, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late X. Raymond and Margaret Luckey Dodge. He attended high school in Hinsdale and graduated with engineering and architectural degrees from Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On February 23, 1940, he married Mavis Erickson of Chicago. He subsequently worked for several firms and for over six years was employed as an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame. He moved from Niles, Michigan to Green Lake West in 1977, to the property his family had owned since 1945. Most recently, his professional activity included working as an independent architectural contractor through Raymond A. Dodge Architectural Design, Inc. He was a member of the Federated Church of Green Lake, the Markesan American Legion Post and the Ripon Rotary where he most recently served as secretary and where he had served as president. He was a member of the Green Lake Association, the Masonic Temple and the Shriners. Ray had been Commodore of the Green Lake Wooden Boat Club, a member of the United States Olympic Committee and was past President of the North American Canoe Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis; four daughters, Nancy (Jack) Blake of IL; Barbara Picardo of Green Lake West, WI; Linda (Bill) Goldner of Oklahoma and Susan (Andy) Cassady of Green Lake West, WI; two brothers, John Dodge of Mexico and Earl (Barbara) Dodge of FL; one sister, Peggy (Ed) Mees of Nevada; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Don in 1962 and one brother, Fred.

Funeral Service for Raymond Dodge will be held Sunday at 3 pm at The Federated Church of Green Lake. Reverend Kent A. Meyer will officiate. Interment will follow at Markesan Memorial Cemetery in Markesan.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 8 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A Masonic service will be held Saturday at 7:15 pm at the funeral home. A memorial in his name has been established for The Federated Church of Green Lake.
