Reid Gustin

Reid M. Gustin, 77, of Ripon, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009, at his home with his family at his side.

Reid was born on February 20, 1931, in Pine Grove, WI, the son of Reid E. and Nieva (Lusthoff) Gustin. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1950, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. On May 27, 1954 he married Nancy Nitzke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. Reid was a truck driver for Kimberly Clark, Speed Queen, and Condons for a total of 38 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Ripon Horse Club, Waukau Flying Mane Horse Club, and the Pickett horse Club.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Gustin of Ripon; his children, Thomas (Sue) Gustin of Brandon, Marsha “MZ” (Kirk) Yazel of Ripon, and Sara (Ken) Gustin-Krause of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Nicholas Gustin of Fond du Lac, Nicole Gustin of Appleton, Jenni (Anthony) Holt of Ripon, Josh Zuhlke of Oshkosh; four great-grandchildren, Kitana, Arianna, Caden, and Austin; one brother, Don (Bev) Gustin of Delaware; one niece, his fishing buddy Roy Krause; other relatives and many friends; and man’s best friend, his dog Yuma. Reid was preceded in death by his parents, and son Rick Gustin in 1977.

Visitation for Reid M. Gustin will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009, from 10-12:00 (noon) at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.

Memorial service for Reid M. Gustin will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Reverend Bryan Fritsch officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. A Memorial has been established in his name.
