Reverend Bruce Buslaff

November 29, 1938 — April 4, 2016

The Reverend Bruce M. Buslaff, age 77, of Ripon, WI, passed away at home on Monday, April 4, 2016, after being diagnosed with cancer at the end of January 2016.

Bruce was born in Beaver Dam, WI on November 29, 1938, the son of Arthur C. and Naomi (Nee: Lambert) Buslaff. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1957 and attended Wartburg College. He went on to attend Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, IA graduating in 1965 and was ordained in his home congregation, Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI on June 13, 1965.

On June 11, 1960, he married Marlene Wilke. Their marriage was blessed with three children and six grandchildren.

Bruce served as a parish pastor in Westby, Cashton, Rosendale and Rogersville. He then was an intern pastor in Oshkosh, Neenah, Mount Morris, Winchester, Fairwater, Waupun, and Ripon. In addition, he was a part-time visitation pastor in Berlin.

Bruce was a volunteer fireman for the Cashton and Rosendale Fire Departments; served as a board member, secretary, vice-president, and president of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home Board; was active on assorted synod and district committees; and contributed as an advisor to the Rosendale-Brandon AODA committee.

Bruce was involved in a wide variety of continuing educational opportunities. One of his favorites was attending The Luther Academy of the Rockies in Colorado with his family.

After Bruce’s retirement in 1994, he enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together in the winter, sitting on the front porch in the summer and always having a Packer flag flying on game day.

Bruce characterized his activities, responsibilities, and work as a stone thrown in a pond. The closest rings from the stone were his activities reaching the community as pastor and fireman. The rings a bit farther out represented area work, while the rings beyond that represented the region and his work on the district church council.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Ripon, WI; daughter, Lynne (Scott) Holland of Campbell, CA; son, Jon of Fennimore, WI; daughter, Lori (Bob) Jessel of Cedarburg, WI; grandchildren, Megan, Katey, Emi and Spencer Holland and Alex and Jacob Jessel; sister, Barbara Kiskunsas of Janesville, WI; sister-in-law, Linda (Dennis) Pollesch of Markesan, WI and four nephews and their families. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.
