Reverend Lawrence Janssen

The Reverend Lawrence H. Janssen, 72, of Green Lake, died unexpectedly Friday, September 9, 1994, in Milwaukee.

He was born October 2, 1921, in Corwith, IA, the son of Harm and Katherine Lawrence Janssen. He was a graduate of Tomah High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He spent 10 years as American Baptist Pastor in Wisconsin and 19 years with the American Baptist Home Mission Society. He joined the staff of the Green Lake American Baptist Assembly as Program Director from 1973 – 1984. After his retirement he helped church schools and enjoyed his passion for nature with several books to his credit. He married the former Betty Boynton on May 30, 1943.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Laurel (Daniel) Ellerbrook of Buchanan, MI and Carolyn (Carl) Jacobs of Highland, MI; three grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother. His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service for the Reverend Larry H. Janssen will be held at Pillsbury Hall, Green Lake A.B.A., on September 15, 1994, at 3 pm. Pastor Roger Fredrickson of Sioux Falls, SD will officiate.

A memorial has been established for the American Baptist Assembly.
