Richard L. Bloedel, Jr., age 77, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 1988, in Brownsville, TX.
Richard was born on November 14, 1910, in Markesan, WI, the son of Richard Sr. and Anne (Miller) Bloedel. He graduated from Markesan High School and went on to attend Lawrence University. Richard founded and owned Bloedel’s of Ripon. On July 22, 1935, he married Mabel Dahlke in Lexington, KT. They resided in Ripon since 1939. Richard was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, a member and past president of Ripon Rotary, Mascoutin Shrine Club, past worthy patron of the Green Lake-Ripon Masonic Lodge, past president of the Wisconsin Implement Dealers Association, past board member of the Valley First National Bank of Ripon, past board member of CESA #13, past member of the Ripon School Board, past member of the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association, and Tuscumbia Golf Club Men’s Day.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mabel; a son, Robert of Mequon; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Donna) Long of Ripon, Mrs. Claire Wood of Fair Oaks, CA; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Richard will be held at 4:00 pm, Monday, February 8, 1988, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, with Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow officiating. Inurnment will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery in Markesan, WI. A memorial has been established in Richard’s name for the Shriners Crippled Children and Burn Center.
