Ripon

Richard Thomas Perr, 89, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023. He was born October 4, 1934 in Princeton, WI; the son of John and Marie Perr.

Richard attended Ripon Public Schools and in 1955 married Shirley Wiegert. Early on, he worked for the taxi cab service, Ruepings Leather Factory and the Ripon Cookie Factory. Then for the next 40 years, he worked in the construction business where he was known for his outstanding quality of workmanship. After retirement, Richard devoted much of his time in helping his brother Ronnie on the farm, doing everything from mending fences and building cages for the animals. The animals looked forward to his visits as he always had food for them. He loved planting and weeding the garden that he and his brother shared which produced an abundance of cucumbers, tomatoes and beans every summer. His hobbies included card playing, reading, working in his word search books, and having a cold Hamm’s Beer. He was also a huge Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Ripon; 3 daughters, Joan (Jon) Erdmann of Nekoosa, Susan (DuWayne) Wichman of Ripon, and Cindy (Ken) Dobrowolski of Green Lake; 4 grandsons, Jeremy (Aimee) Meyer of Fond du Lac, Kevin (Megan) Meyer of Menasha, Adam (Shawn Langel) Erdmann of Waunakee and Michael Wichman of Ripon; 4 great-grandchildren, Ian, Wesley, Emma, and Dekker Meyer of Menasha; 2 sisters, Margaret and Joyce; 2 brothers, Ronald and Bernard, as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie; along with 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Per Richard’s wishes there will be no funeral services or visitation. Cremation will be handled by Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.

Richard’s family would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Glod and staff, specifically Katie and Clarissa for the wonderful care they provided. Their thoughtfulness and caring ways was much appreciated. And a very special thank you to the caregivers at Prairie Place for being like a ‘second’ family to him. Your loving care and concern means more than you know.
