Richard Harold Schmidt, age 69, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010, at his home with his family by his side.
Richard was born on April 25, 1941, in Gresham, Shawno County, WI, the son of Harold and Minnie (Ready) Schmidt. He worked for Asplund Tree Service as a tree trimmer for many years. On November 12, 1960, he married Judith Halverson. Richard was a caring father and grandfather. His love for fishing, hunting, car races and football will leave many of us with fond memories.
Survivors include his mother, Minnie Schmidt; three sons, Tim (Karen) Schmidt of Oshkosh, WI, Eugene (Joyce) Schmidt of Brandon, WI and David Schmidt of CA; one daughter, Candie Wolfgram of Redgranite, WI; five grandchildren, Kevin Schmidt, Crystal Mark, Christopher Mark, Joshua Schmidt and Nicole Schmidt; one great-grandchild, Tanner Galicia; twelve brothers and sisters, Daniel (Georgia) Schmidt of Seymour, WI, Arlene Neumann (Ken McHugh) of Appleton, WI, Harold “Butch” Schmidt Jr. of Black Creek, WI, Judy Nelson of Nichols, WI, Thomas (Debbie) Schmidt of Black Creek, WI, John (Chris) Schmidt of Bonduel, WI, Randy (Kathy) Schmidt of Black Creek, WI, Peter (Karen) Schmidt of Nichols, WI, Steve (Laurie) Schmidt of Seymour, WI, Joe Schmidt of Black Creek, WI, Patti Kettner (Mark Huss) of Freedom, WI and Jerry (Karen) Schmidt of Appleton, WI. Richard is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. Richard was preceded in death by his father Harold; his wife, Judith; one daughter, Sherri Schmidt and one son-in-law, Steven Wolfgram.
Visitation for Richard Schmidt will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, from 12 – 2:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971.
Prayer Service for Richard Schmidt will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at 2:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. A memorial is being established in his name.
