Richard J. Swider, age 63, of Green Lake, WI, died Monday, September 11, 2000, at his home.
He was born January 12, 1937, in Chicago, a son to Joseph and Velma (Stucker) Swider. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-57. He received a BS in Biology from UW-Stevens Point, an Ag Degree from Northeastern Technical College, and BS in Education from UW-Green Bay. Richard worked at Boeing Co. in New Orleans, farmed on the family farm in Pulaski, and most recently, taught math and science at Taycheedah Correctional Institute. He was a member of Wild Ones Natural Landscapers and belonged to the Green Lake Yacht Club. On December 27, 1995, he married Nancy D. (nee) Mueller.
He is survived by beloved wife, Nancy of Green Lake; mother, Velma Swider of Pulaski; stepdaughters, Lynn (Richard) Dolata of Claymont, DE and Kirsten (Christopher) Mikulski of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Kelsey Murphy, Liam and Ethan Dolata, Olivia and Erinn Mikulski; mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Dorothy Mueller of Ripon; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas & Janis Mueller of Mukwonago; nephews, Dale Mueller of Milwaukee and Matthew Mueller of Wausau; and his two faithful dogs, Star & Luna. His father, Joseph preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon from 4 7:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2000. A memorial time of remembrance will follow at 7 pm. Memorials may be sent to Wild Ones Natural Landscapers, Fox Valley Area Chapter, 2801 E. Hietpas St. Appleton, WI 54911.
A great cook, raconteur, and environmentalist, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and found his grandchildren a special pleasure. Papa Dick you are forever in our hearts. Sadly missed by his wife, loved ones and friends.
