Robert Curtius

Mr. Robert R. Curtius, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away December 12, 1993, at his home.

He was born November 23, 1909, in Camp Douglas, the son of the late Max and Elizabeth (Anderle) Curtius. After attending Camp Douglas High School, he graduated in 1931 from the University of Wisconsin as an electrical engineer. On June 9, 1937, he married the former Mary Hennessey and they have been blessed with 56 years of marriage. Bob was a loyal and faithful employee for 40 years at Wisconsin Power and Light. He served Mineral Point, Dodgeville, Madison and Beloit before coming to Ripon as manager in 1958. He retired from the Power and Light on June 1, 1974. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ripon. Bob was active in city affairs, past president of Ripon Rotary, member and past president of the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Ripon Community Development Corportaion. He was a charter member of both Mineral Point and Ripon Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by one son, John (Rosemary) Curtius of north Fond du Lac; two daughters, Bette Curtius of West Bend and Mary (Robert) Schieffer of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Greg, Beckie, Beth, Barbara, and Bill; and one great grandson, Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 15, 1993, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ripon. The Reverend John A. Schmitz will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. The family will receive friends Tuesday form 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A prayer service will follow at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the charity of your choice.
