Robert Gatzke

Robert J. Gatzke, age 73, of Ripon, WI passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 1953 at Ripon Municipal Hospital.

Robert was born in Ripon on October 24, 1879, the son of Martin and Amelia Gatzke. He was educated in Ripon and has lived there all his life. On June 21, 1905 he married Molly Mead in Ripon. Robert was a salesman for 20 years with the Bruens Company and Jones District Company, as well as a buyer for Mattice and Foster Company for many years. He was the past President of The Brotherhood of the Church, a member of the Ripon Masonic Lodge and an honorary member of Alpha Phi Omega at Ripon College.

Robert is survived by his wife, Amelia; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Eckert and Mrs. Harry Diedrich both of Ripon, and Mrs. Jay Marshall of Burlington, IA; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Amelia Gatzke and one brother.

Visitation for Robert will be held from 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, 1953 until 12:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 1953 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 1953 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.

Funeral service for Robert will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 1953 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Reverend E.E. Schieler officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.
