Robert A. Gehrke, 75, of 826 Thomas St., Ripon, died Wednesday evening, February 1, 1989, at Ripon Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1913, in Ripon to Alfred W. and Minnie Schultz Gehrke. On May 25, 1941, he married Dorothy Fischer.
Mr. Gehrke was a 1935 graduate of Ripon College. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Marquette and his Master of Science Degree from Oshkosh. He was a Trust Officer for 30 years for the First National Bank of Ripon. He had lived in Ripon all his life. Mr. Gehrke was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ and of the Senior Choir of the church. From 1950, until the present he did extensive volunteer work for the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #95, Member of Veterans of the Foreign Wars Post #5278 and the American Legion Post #43. He was a member of the State and Ripon Historical Society and was on the Curators Board for 20 years.
Mr. Gehrke was in the Army in World War II. He was with the Wisconsin National Guard for 17 years and he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Veterans Service Committee for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert J. of Ripon; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Catherine) Gehrke Benfield of Medina, Ohio; two grandchildren, Johnna and Erik both of Ripon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10:30 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. The Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 until 8:00 pm on Friday at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 pm.
