Robert John Lieske

Robert John Lieske, age 94, of Ripon, WI, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Prairie Place surrounded by family.
Robert was born November 16, 1920, in Ripon, WI, the son of Henry and Elsie (Woehlke) Lieske. He was confirmed at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and went to school in Ripon. Robert married Dorothy Schlaack in Pickett, WI, February 20, 1943. He and Dorothy farmed at home on Cork Street until 1958 and then Robert began his employment with the Department of Agriculture as a Soil Conservationist for Outagamie and Fond du Lac Counties. He retired in 1980. Robert was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and served on the Council. Robert played dart ball with the church and city, was a member of the Senior Choir, he helped with the turkey dinner, and was a Charter Member of Serendipity (Men’s Bible study at Our Saviour’s). Robert loved music and sang for the Appleton and Ripon Choirs. He was a member of The Harmony Kings Barber Shop Choir and in 1985 was Barber Shopper of the Year. Robert loved choir and the trips to Germany. He enjoyed woodworking, building, and repairing furniture and was the owner of Tip Top Sharpening Service.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Cheryl) Lieske of Ripon, WI, John Lieske of Neshkoro, WI, and Jim (Lynnette) Lieske also of Ripon; 9 grandchildren, Jackie (Russell) Bogucke, Kevin (Sarah) Lieske, Heidi (Kevin) Behnke, John Lieske Jr., Mark (Niki) Lieske, Amy (James) Thomas, Patrick Lieske, Michelle Lieske, and Ashley Lieske; 15 great grandchildren, Hanna, Mitchell, Becca, Ben, Declan, Ian, Andrew, Anna, Zackery, Tyler, Taylor, Logan, Madyson, Zander and Lilly. He is further survived by one sister, Violet Bushweiler of Ripon; sister in-law, Jean Keith and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy in 2008, one son, one daughter, sisters, Loretta Lambert, Frieda Hartwig, Anita Bloch, and brothers Arnold Lieske and Arthur Lieske.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Robert John Lieske will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. The Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Interment will follow at Loper Cemetery in the Township of Ripon. A memorial is being established.
