Robert Harvey Manthe, age 82, of Green Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2007 at his home.
Robert was born December 1, 1925 on Prairie View Farm in South Leeds, WI the son of Herbert and Carrie (Monson) Manthe. He attended Empire Prairie School, and on December 11, 1946, married Shirley Amelia Paske at Eastside Lutheran Church. Robert worked as a Manager at Cenex Feed Mill and being true to his love of farming, worked at his own farm. He was a life long member of WELS Lutheran Synod, and more recently Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake. Robert enjoyed watching all of nature from his back yard, enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and having jigsaw puzzle “competitions” with Shirley, and enjoyed his frequent trips to Keyser. He loved his family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Manthe of Green Lake, 6 children; Byron (fiancé Kim) Mansfield of TX, Cathy (John) Stangl of Beaver Dam, Warren (companion Surachat) of Thailand, Janeen (Chuck) Bath of Horicon, Connie (Doug) Feuling of Green Lake, and Alan (Lisa) of Beaver Dam, grandchildren; Kelly, Kerry (Jerry), Ryan (Laura), Kurt, Allison (Steve), Andrea (Matt), Carmen, Lauren, Meredith, and Joshua, great-grandchildren; Avery, Lily, Jade, Meg, Mae, Adelyne, Elynora, Aubryana, Iviayn, and Nolan, one brother; Marvin Manthe, 3 sisters; Lorraine (Harland) Hartman, Carol (Harland) Hebel and June (Kenny) Gilbertson, brother-in-law; Fritz Paske, and sister-in-laws; Bev (Richard) Busse, Mona (Ken) Bertoli, and Donna Hoffman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and special caregiver Pat Frank. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Bev Paske, and brother-in-law Robert Hoffman, and grandson, Robert Christian Feuling.
Visitation for Robert H. Manthe will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hwy K, Leeds, WI.
Memorial Service for Robert H. Manthe will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leeds, WI with the Reverend Rodney E. Dietsche officiating. Inurnment will follow at Zion Cemetery, Leeds. Memorials in Robert’s name may be given to St. Agnes Hospital Hospice Hope Foundation, 114 N. Pearl St. Berlin, WI, 54923 or American Diabetes Assn Milwaukee Office, 2323 N. Mayfair Rd. Suite 502, Wauwatosa, WI 53226.
