Robert Nelson

Robert J. Nelson, age 62, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 1993, at University Hospitals, Madison.

He was born on November 25, 1930, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Bernard and Irene (Carpenter) Nelson. He was educated in Dubuque and was a barber for many years. Bob had also won many awards for his beautiful tooled leather work. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Since 1984 he has resided in Ripon and for many years was a mechanic for Wuerch Shell Station. The Ripon Community Thrift Store would never have been started without him. Bob Nelson put in thousands of hours and much of his own money into the Thrift Store. He came from a very hurting childhood and knew what it was life to be in need. He had compassion for the needy and hurting people.

He is survived by a special caring friend Donna Fude. He is also survived by three brothers, Bernard Nelson of Oakville, WA, Richard Nelson of Auburn, WA and Ronald Nelson of Dubuque, IA; seven sisters, Mrs. Vivian (Frank) Streets of Clinton, IA, Mrs. Eileen (Art) Mersch and Mrs. Rosemary (Mel) Rudolph, both of Las Vegas, NA, Mrs. Georgene (Joseph) Butlett, Helma Smythe and Elizabeth Nelson, all of Dubuque, IA, and Sandra Pfah of Davenport, IA. He is further survived by his adopted family Rick and Debbie Fude of Brandon, Lloyd and Jean Fude of Waupun, Berwyn and Audrey Van Buren of Brandon and Jack and Wanda Larson of Waupun; and their seven children, Whitney, Cody, and Colton Fude, Darren and Amanda Van Buren, and Alex and Rachel Fude. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Willie and one sister Betty.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Ripon. The Reverend T.J. Reiser of Berlin will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A memorial
