Robert W. Scott, age 87, of Appleton, formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton.
Robert was born February 19, 1926, in Massillon, OH, the son of Donald D. and Margaret (Stuhldreher) Scott. He graduated from Washington High School in Massillon, OH and went to serve our country in the United States Army in the European Theatre from 1944-1946. He received a B.S. in Education from Kent State University in 1949 and an M.A. from Western University in 1952. He did Graduate Study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Robert married Maria A. Baier at Durwards Glen Chapel in Baraboo, WI on April 28, 1962. He was a teacher all of his life and retired from teaching at The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1987. Robert was a member of St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, a Parish Trustee for 9 years, and a member of the Building Committee for the new church building. He also served as a member of St Patrick School Board, and the church Finance Committee. Robert was the secretary for the Holy Name Society, and a Charter Member and First Secretary for The Knights of Columbus Council. Robert further served as Past Secretary/Bulletin Editor of Ripon Noon Kiwanis Club and was a member and Past Executive Secretary of the Wisconsin Communication Association.
Survivors include his brother, Donald; special friends, Chuck and Agnes Heck of Wautoma, WI, Peter (Elizabeth) Heck of Appleton, WI, John (Kathy) Heck of Appleton, WI, Therese Winkelmann of Germantown, WI, James Heck of Wautoma, WI, Mark (Jen) Heck of Pulaski, WI. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maria, brothers, David and Richard; sisters, Shirley and Wanda.
Visitation for Robert Scott will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 from 9am- 10:30 am at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 218 Blossom Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Scott will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:30 am at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, in Ripon. Father Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Interment will follow at St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 218 Blossom Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
