Robert H. Simmons, 86, of 504 Russell Dr., Ripon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at Ripon Medical Center, in Ripon.
He was born January 4, 1919, in Ripon, son of Walter and Nellie (Colton) Simmons. He graduated from Ripon High School and attended Tool & Die School in Chicago. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army 127th Red Arrow Division, and received the Silver Star for action in the Pacific Theater during WWII. On May 28, 1949, he married Katherine Kohl. Bob was shipping manager at Ripon Knitting Works for 34 years. He was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, and past member of the Ripon V.F.W. and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Simmons of Ripon; children, Allen (Kathy) Simmons of Pensacola, FL, Susan (Philip) Manthei of Ripon, and Janet Simmons (Steve Krueger) of Ripon; 3 grandchildren, Harley (Jen) Simmons of MT, Jeneen (Scott) Piedalue of MT, and Steven Manthei (fiancée Jackie Leahy) of Ripon; great-grandchildren, Corbin Simmons, and Chase & Levi Piedalue of MT; and sister-in-law, Ruth Billie (Myron) Scheid. He is further survived by nieces & nephews, David (Wanda) Hildebrandt, Jerry (Donna) Hildebrandt, Shirley (Don) Willis, Judith Kessler, Jean Kissack, Katherine Scheid; and many great-nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Robert H. Simmons will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2005, at St. Peters Episcopal Church with Rev. Kenneth Guy officiating. Visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall 1 hour prior to the church service. A memorial has been established.
