Robert “Bob” Spinks, age 92, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.
Bob was born June 16, 1924, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Charles and Margaret (O’Neil) Spinks. He graduated from high school and then went to the University of Illinois for 1 year. He then fought in WW11. He then went on to University of Missouri where he was a baseball captain and earned his Bachelor’s Degree. .In 1950, Bob married Corinne Allen who passed away in 1992. Bob spent many years working in Arlington Hts., IL as a coach, teacher and a principal. He earned his Master’s Degree from Northern IL University. Upon retiring at age 55, he and Corinne made their home in Green Lake. When Corinne passed away he married Karla Allen in 1993. Bob loved to fish, watch birds, and cheer on his St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306, Isaak Walton and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Survivors include his wife, Karla Spinks of Green Lake, WI; one daughter, Kim (Michael) Mandele; two grandchildren, Joseph (Danielle) Mandele and Angela (Andre) Carriere; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Kyli Carriere; four step-children, Kris Kerr, Kirk Freeman, Carry Freeman and Kyle (Ann) Freeman and nine step-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Corinne; son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Jane; two sisters and one step-son, Jeff Freeman.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 2 – 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Bob will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Full Military Honors after the service. Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. Interment will take place at Wheeling Township Arlington Cemetery, in Arlington Heights, IL on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 11:00 am. Memorials may be donated to Green Lake Area Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 86, Green Lake, WI 54941 or American Legion Post 306, Green Lake, WI 54941.
