Robert E. Zimmerman

Robert E. Zimmerman, age 81, of Pickett, WI, passed away on April 8, 2024 at Villa Pines Living Center in Adams, WI.

Robert was born January 4, 1943 in Oshkosh, WI to Floyd and Joyce (Ehrenberg) Zimmerman. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1961 and went on to attend UW-Oshkosh for one year. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as an ETR-2, Electronic Technician Radar 2nd class Petty Officer. His ship, USS Nicolas, DD-449, was home ported in Pearl Harbor, HI. He saw combat action in the Bay of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he was employed as a machinist at Speed Queen/Alliance for 37 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed trout fishing in Wyoming, hunting deer and turkey. He was an avid fan of women’s soccer and basketball.

Survivors include his brother, Russell Zimmerman of Friendship, WI; niece, Elizabeth (Richard) Michaux of Richmond, VA; nephews, Paul (Megan) Zimmerman of Berlin, WI, and Jeffrey (Eve) Zimmerman of Denver, CO. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Joyce Zimmerman; and sister-in-law, Beverly Zimmerman.

Visitation for Robert will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 5497. Per his request there will be no formal funeral service. A private family interment will take place at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett at a later date.
