Roger G. Ladwig

Roger G. Ladwig died on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Ripon Community Hospital. Roger was born on Sept. 19, 1927, son of Gordon J. Ladwig and Clara S. Ladwig in Milwaukee, WI. 

On June 30, 1951, Roger married Marion M. Gelhar at Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI. Roger was a Member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1945. Roger and Marion were dairy farmers and lived in the town of Brooklyn Their dairy herd was the highest producing herd in Green Lake County for a number of years. Roger was employed at Speed Queen in Ripon for over 28 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Steel Workers Local 1327. For fifteen years he served as the Union Committee Recording Secretary, and three years as Union President. Roger was very proud of his service to fellow union members. He served on the Green Lake County ASC Committee, Brooklyn Town Board and Green Lake County Board of Adjustment. 

Roger and Marion visited every State in the USA, they also traveled to Australia, and New Zealand, visited Islands in the Pacific and Caribbean. They visited every country in South America and took a trip to Israel. They went hunting out west for Elk, Antelope and Mule Deer. Roger and Marion liked to Square Dance and took many bus trips with their Square Dance friends to the National Square Conventions in various States and Canada.

On August 15, 2012, Roger married Catherine “Kay” E. Hanson in Merrill, WI. They spent the winter months at their home in San Benito, TX. Roger was a member of The Speed Queen Retires Club and served as President for a number of years. Roger was a collector of antique wood working tools and old farm implement wrenches, a wood carver, and a member of Midwest Tool Collectors Club and Missouri Valley Wrench Collectors Club.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Ladwig; children, Lee (Diane) Ladwig and Luann Ladwig; grandchildren, Joanne (Angelo) Viard, Julie (David) Hanson, Jason (Valerie) Ladwig, Jeff (Abbey) Ladwig, and Conner Ladwig; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Evan, and Jayden Viard, Alice, Walter, Conrad, and Preston Hanson, Sage and Aspen Ladwig, and Lily, Archer, and Griffin Ladwig; brother, Gene Ladwig, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marion Ladwig; and son, Loren Ladwig.

Visitation for Roger will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr, Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral service for Roger will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Rev. Mark Wenzel officiating. Interment will follow at Bluffton Cemetery, Town of Brooklyn. Memorials in his name may be directed to the parking lot fund for Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI 54971.
