Rose Butler

Rose Eunice Butler, age 96, of Rosendale, WI, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011, at Tower View Villa in Rosendale.

Rose was born to Frank and Caroline (Ulrich) Butler on November 22, 1914, at the family farm in the Town of Rosendale, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1930 and from Ripon College in 1934 with a degree in biology and Latin. She taught for seven years at a county school, at Mt. Horeb and La Crosse. She also was employed for many years in Milwaukee at the post office for the holiday season and had other jobs in the Milwaukee area. She was employed at Green Giant in Ripon and at the Baptist Assembly in Green Lake for many years. Rose loved to travel and had traveled to every continent except Antarctica. She had toured most countries in the world several times. One of her most exciting trips was to fly to London and then fly on the Concorde airplane maiden flight to the EAA in Oshkosh. On another trip she went around the world. Rose was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years and was the Most Worthy Matron of her chapter and was a representative to many states. She was also active in the White Shrine of Jerusalem with her father in Fond du Lac. Rose received the Century Farm Award at the State Fair in August 2010. Her farm had been in the family for over 112 years. She loved the outdoors, mowing her lawn and working in her yard and garden.

Rose is survived by many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and cousins.

Visitation for Rose Butler will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 12 – 1:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971.

Memorial Service for Rose Butler will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 1:00 pm with an Eastern Star Service followed by the memorial service at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Jack W. Kraaz will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the Ripon College Scholarship Fund in Rose Butler’s name, please send gifts to: Advancement Office, P.O. Box 248, Ripon, WI 54971.

The family would like to thank Barb Sullivan and her staff at Tower View Villa for the excellent and loving care they gave Rose for the eight months she was a resident there. Also a special thank you to Agnesian Hospice Hope for their special care.
