Rose Marie Garrity, age 89, died Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2001, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon, WI.
She was born March 25, 1912, in Riverton, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Catherine (Dubinska) Konopka. She graduated from Ottawa High School and attended Browns Business School. On March 3, 1933, she married Virgil Garrity in Ottawa, IL and they farmed near Earlville, IL. For a good share of her life she had been an assembly worker for the Marathan Co. in Earlville. Mrs. Garrity was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ripon.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean (Robert) Zimmerman of Ripon; four grandchildren, Cathy (Dr. Vic) Roeder, Chris Zimmerman, and Ruth (Sean) McWane, all of Ripon and Mark Zimmerman of Oshkosh, WI; three great-grandsons, Andrew, John and Matthew Roeder of Ripon; two sisters-in-law, Mercedes Garrity of Ottawa, IL and Alice Konopka of Gillespie, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 5, 1970; son, Ronald on May 1, 1998; two brothers, Joseph and Victor Konopka and one sister, Margaret Sedlacek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Friday, October 5, 2001, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John A. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9 to 10 am at the church. Interment will be in St. Columbia Catholic Cemetery in Ottawa, IL. A memorial has been established.
