Rosemary J. Zimdars, age 65, of Stoughton, WI, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2015, following several years struggling with Alzheimers.
She was born February 7, 1950, to Gordon and W. Lois (Tavs) Zimdars in Ripon, WI. She attended the Ripon schools through graduation and continued her education at UWO obtaining her BSN in nursing. Rosemary was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. After college graduation, she worked as a registered nurse for several years in a Madison hospital and then in a Wausau clinic before returning to her hometown and working at the Ripon hospital as well as a volunteer with the Ripon Guardian Ambulance Service. She finished her working career in the Berlin Hospital Emergency Department while continuing to work with the ambulance service and served the community by training and mentoring numerous members of the EMS.
She enjoyed trying to grow roses, especially pink ones as that was her favorite color, being outside and spending a week every summer at a lake cottage. Rosemary obtained her pilots license during her early adulthood. Later in life, she obtained her foster license and cared for several foster children before welcoming her own children into her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle of Adams, WI; son and two grandchildren, Thomas, Brooklyn and Shaemus Zimdars of Ripon, WI; her sister, Cheryl (Robert) Schrader of Adams, WI; her brothers, Dean (Gloria) Zimdars of Oshkosh, WI and Rodney (Patricia) Zimdars of Garland, TX; nieces, Kyleh (Justin) Dahmer of Wauwatosa and Tamra (Darin) of Adams, WI and their children, Jackson and Brynden Dahmer, James (Brittney) Schrader, Jasmine (Kyle) Schrader and Celina Kurth; her nephews, SPC Zachary Zimdars of Fort Campbell, KY and William (Maggie) Schrader of Adams, WI, her brother cousins, Karen (Terry) Smith of Ripon, WI, and Gary (Suzanne) Smith of Mundelein, IL and her sister friend, Jenny Ahlers of Wautoma, WI and her family. Rosemary is also survived by other relatives and many friends, colleagues and people whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation for Rosemary will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 10 11:30 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 West Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Rosemary, including the Nightingale Tribute will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015, at 11:30 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Reverend Joshua Pegram will officiate. Interment will take place at Brandon Cemetery in the Village of Brandon next to her parents. A memorial is being established in her name.
