Roy Joseph Habelwitz, age 67, of Green Lake, WI, died on December 31, 1999, at Ripon Medical Center.
Roy was born August 1, 1932, in Madison, WI, a son to Edward Jacob and Elizabeth (Willman) Habelwitz. He received his education in Milwaukee and on November 14, 1953, he married Barbara Zilla in Milwaukee. Roy resided in Ripon and Green Lake. He was an owner/proprietor of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning firm. Roy was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278. Roy served his country in the Seventh Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Roy D. (Chris) Hablewitz, Robert B. (Kathleen) Hablewitz, and Richard T. Hablewitz; grandchildren, Andrew, Stefani, Anne, Alison and Alyssa; brothers, Ray and Edward (Hannah); sisters, Dorothy (Joe), Leora (Russell), Mary Ann, Helen (Glen) Marlene, Ruth (Dick), Kathleen, Janet (Ron), Barbara (Dean), and Linda (John); brothers-in-law, Frank, Dan and Tom (Mary) Zilla. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Gerald; and a sister, Geraldine.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2000, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St. Green Lake, WI, with Father John Dowd officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm with the rosary at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971. Visitation will also be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. A memorial has been established in his name.
