Roy Skalsky

Roy E. Skalsky, age 87, of Waimea, Hawaii, formerly of Howards Grove, WI, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea, Hawaii.

He was born May 27, 1928, in Jackson, MN, the son of Tony A. and Mary (Verba) Skalsky. He ran the family farm and drove truck before going to work at Kohler Company in Kohler, WI. He married JoAnne Bettinger in 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD. Following JoAnne’s death in 1992, he married Lois Bitter in 1995. They resided in Howards Grove before moving to Honokaa, Hawaii.

Roy was a volunteer fireman, active in the First Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan, served on the board of Pine Haven Christian Home Assisted Living Facility in Sheboygan Falls, WI. He was active in the Lions Club as member and past president and assisted in eye tissue transport. After retiring, Roy drove school bus for Harms Bus Service. Roy enjoyed gardening, dogs, reading and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, Debra Martinelli and her partner, Jack Benjamin of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Kathleen (Douglas) Kelm of Ripon, WI and Jeffrey (Caroline) Skalsky of Fitchburg, WI. He is further survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Visitation for Roy E. Skalsky will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 1429 N. 5th St., Sheboygan, WI 53083.

Memorial Service for Roy E. Skalsky will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. Reverend Dr. Richard C. Manny will officiate. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
