Rubin “Joe” Tetzlaff, age 85, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Barrett House in Ripon.

Joe was born on October 7, 1926, in the Township of Marquette, the son of Adolph and Leona (Marquardt) Tetzlaff. He graduated from Markesan High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944, serving in Pearl Harbor in Leyte Island and Japan. Joe served aboard the USS Woodford AKA 86 and in June of 1946 he was released. In 1951, he married Virginia Moderow at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. Joe was a milk hauler for Markesan Creamery for 13 years and retiring in 1990 from Ness Electric as an electrician after 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0282. Joe was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan and served as a member of the church council and usher.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Markesan, WI; two daughters, Ann (Denis) Kremer of Greenfield, WI and Rita Tetzlaff of Markesan, WI; two grandsons, Jonathan Kremer of Madison, WI and Benjamin Kremer of Greenfield, WI and further survived by a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, niece, nephew and mother and father-in-law.

Visitation for Joe Tetzlaff will be held on Monday, September 3, 2012, from 4 – 8:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan, WI 53946 and again on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 10 – 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan.

Funeral service for Joe Tetzlaff will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan, WI 53946. Pastor Jason Jobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Markesan Memorial Cemetery in the City of Markesan with Full Military Honors. A memorial is being established.
