Russell Crook

Russell “Mike” Crook, age 64, of Ripon, WI, passed away on January 23, 1987, at St. Lukes Hospital in Milwaukee.

Russell was born January 13, 1923, in Ripon, WI, the son of Edward and Selma (Dahms) Crook. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in the 392nd 8th Air Force in England. On June 13, 1947, Russell married Doris Gruetzmacher. He worked as a maintenance man at Speed Queen for 31 years. Russell was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, charter member of Schultz-Klemp-Wentland VFW Post #5278, member of Silver Jubilee Club of Speed Queen, and constable of Town of Ripon from 1948 to 1951.

Survivors include one son, James of Ripon; one daughter, Pamela Kannenberg of Oshkosh; three sisters, Harriet Gates of San Diego, CA, Verna Golliher of Oshkosh and Ethel Kopplin of Oklahoma. Russell was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, two brothers and his parents.

Visitation for Russell will be held on Monday, January 26, 1987, from 3 – 5:00 pm and 6 – 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with a VFW Service at 7:45 pm.

Funeral Service for Russell will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 1987, at11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow officiating. Interment will follow at Loper Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established for the church.
