Russell Quick

Russell E. Quick, 88, of Green Lake Manor, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2004 at Green Lake Manor.

Russell was born on March 9, 1916 the son of Jesse James and Gladys Bush Quick in Markesan. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1935. Russell served his country during WWII in the United States Navy as a CB in the South Pacific, mostly building air strips. After the war he went to work for Wisconsin Power and Light as a lineman and worked there until he retired in 1978. Russell was an avid golfer with an undying, love of the game going back to his childhood. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He was a Charter Member of the Federated Church of Green Lake, the Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306, and a past board member of the Green Lake Boy Scouts and helped build the scouting building in Green Lake.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Green Lake, two sons; James (Ginger) Quick of Green Lake, Robert (Nancy) Quick of Roscoe, IL, four granddaughters; Jamie (Jim) Luchinski of Berlin, Ginette (Dan) Wolf of Ripon, Amy (Randy) Stein of Rockford, IL, and Ann (Ricardo) Ortiz of Rockford, IL, two grandsons; Jesse Quick of Oshkosh, and Robert Quick Jr. of Springfield, MO, Six great-grandchildren, two brothers; Elmer Quick of Orlando, FL, and Leland “Pete” (Mary) Quick of Green Valley, AZ, and one sister, Irene Ilgen of Madison, WI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Calvin Quick.

Funeral services for Russell Quick will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 11:00 am, at the Federated Church of Green Lake with the Rev. Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Friends may call on Thursday at the church from 10-11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Memorials can be directed to the Federated Church of Green Lake or the Skin Cancer Foundation.
