Ruth Mathwig, age 87, formerly a 25.year resident of Russell Manor, Ripon, died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at Silver Creek Manor, Ripon, where she has lived since this past January 6.
She was born November 18, 1912, in Ripon, the daughter of Otto F. and Alma A. (Wegner) Mathwig. After graduating from Ripon High School and Ripon College, Ruth taught school for 10 years in the Kohler Public Schools. She then received her nursing schooling at Frances Payne Bolton School of nursing, Western Reserve University of Ohio. After retiring from nursing in Pontiac, Ml, she made her home in Ripon.
She is survived by her sister, Marion M. (William) Gehri of Ripon; 3 nephews; Robert C. Mathwig of Seattle, WA, Bruce W. (Paula) Gehri of Warwick, Rhode Island and Col. Mark J. (Vickie) Gehri of the Air Force in Yigo, Guam; and 1 niece, Marcia English of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Carleton “Pete” Mathwig.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. lnurument will be in the Brandon Cemetery.
