Ruth Eleanor (Janes) Thrasher, Schlaff, 84, of Green Lake, passed away unexpectedlY at her home on September 11, 2001.
Ruth was born on April 21, 1917, the daughter of Clifford and Alma (Schroeder) Janes in the Township of Berlin. She was a graduate of Berlin High School, Green Lake County Normal, and U.W. Oshkosh. She taught Elementary grades and Special Education in area schools until her retirement in 1980. Ruth was married to Joseph A. Thrasher from Nov. 24, 1938 until his death in October 1961. She later married Albert Schlaff on July 6, 1975. She was a member of Green Lake Business & Professional Women’s Club, Retired Teachers Organizations, Dartford Education Club and the Federated Church of Green Lake.
Survivors include her children; Lynne (Dennis) Hartman of Green Lake, Charles (Janice) Thrasher of Wautoma, Keith (Rita) Thrasher of Green Lake, Diane Thrasher of Germania, and Allen (Grace) Schlaff of Tucson, AZ. Her grandchildren; Mark, Richard, Robert, Kevin, and Matthew Hartman, Tammy Collins, Todd Thrasher, Lisa Ellis, Jeremy Thrasher, Laura Albright, Rachel Thrasher, James and Jessica Wagner, Spencer Schlaff, Daniel Schlaff, and Connie Allison. Along with eleven great-grandchilden; one brother, Harold (Alice) Janes of Berlin, one sister, Mary Ellen (Donald) Krebsbach of Berlin; two sister-in-laws; Agnes Janes and Anna Thrasher; and two brother-in laws, Art (Fern) Schlaff, and Walter (Gladys) Schlaff.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; Joseph A. Thrasher and Albert Schlaff; two sons, Joseph D. Thrasher, and Gary C. Thrasher; one grandson, Charles J. Thrasher; one brother, Kenneth Janes; and a step-son, Gordon Schlaff.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2001, at 11:00 am at the Federated Church of Green Lake with Rev. Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A memorial has been established in her name.
