Ruth Delores Schultz, age 73, of 214 Church St, Fairwater, passed away July 5, 2002, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon after a lengthy illness.
She was born October 5, 1929, in Princeton, a daughter to Edmund and Bernice
(Brooks) Shurpit. Ruth graduated from Princeton High School, later married Omar
Gibson Schultz on July 18, 1948. Until 1984, Ruth and Omar, along with their son,
Randall and Omars brother, Allan, owned and operated Cozys Tavern in Fairwater.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, and the Ladies Auxiliary of
Fa i rwater.
Survivors include 4 children, Randall Lee Schultz of Princeton, Judith Kay (Don) Doherty of Fairwater, Carla Jean (Douglas) Poortenga of Fairwater, and Bonnie Sue Scheier and her friend, Pat Copeland of Fox Lake; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Don Shurpit of Stevens Point; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Louden of Ripon and Shirley Roehi of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 infant sons; and 1 brother.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at 7 p.m. at the ButzinMarchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Tom Meyer officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Inurnment will take place in the Fairwater Cemetery at a later date.
