Ruth Marie Wetzel, age 81, of 504 Russell Dr. Ripon, passed away Friday evening, March 24, 2006 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Ruth was born July 9, 1924 in Ripon, the daughter of John “Jay” and Mary (Schwandt) Hill. She was a graduate of Ripon High School in 1942. On March 13, 1943, she married Roger Wetzel, they shared 63 years together. Ruth was a nursing assistant at Ripon Memorial Hospital and a housewife. She was a past member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon and Emanuel Lutheran Church of Brandon.
Ruth is survived by husband, Roger Wetzel of Ripon; daughter, Bonnie (John) Schmidlkofer of Florida; son, Richard “Dick” (Gail) Wetzel of Brandon; grandchildren, Kristina Smith of Florida, Sarah (Ken) Bultman of Berlin, Todd (Michelle) Wetzel of Waupun, and Eric (Danielle) Wetzel of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Fale Afoa, Bailey and Abigail Wetzel and Karsyn and Elizabeth Wetzel; brother, Harold Hill of Ripon, sister-in-law, Erma Busha of Ripon; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Dorothy Diedrich and brother, John Hill.
A Memorial Service for Ruth Wetzel will be on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home of Ripon, at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation held before from 9:00-10:00 a.m. with Reverend Rolf F. Amundsen officiating. Inurnment will be in Brandon Cemetery in the Village of Brandon. A memorial has been established.
