Samuel Davies

Mr. Samuel Joseph Davies, former Pickett resident, and currently of Washington, PA and Apopka, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 1992.

He was born in Algoma on September 9, 1908, the son of the late Joseph and Vera (Stevenson) Davies. Prior to his move to Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Elo Methodist Church and was an active lay minister. He was a member of the National Lodge #81, I.O.O.F.

Mr. Davies was a business administration graduate of the University of Wisconsin. After college he was employed by Sears for 7 years. He was self- employed as a certified electronic technician. During World War II he taught radio at Truax Field as a civilian instructor for the United States Army Air Force. Samuel Davies was previously married to Virginia Rusch who died February, 1984. He and his present wife, Marion Ashcraft Legler were united in marriage June 18, 1986.

Surviving are his wife, Marion Davies; two sons, Daniel Joseph Davies of East Troy and Kenneth William Davies of Murfessboro, TN; three step-sons, John and Robert Legler of Washington, PA, and William Legler of Mnongahela, PA; two step-daughters, Mrs. William (Patricia) McCall and Mrs. Ray (Gail) Meloy; two grandsons, Henry and Jason Davies and one granddaughter, Meghan Davies; five step-granddaughters, Heidid Legler, Tris Anne and Jennifer Meloy, Kimberly Grandel, and Jillian Legler; one step-grandson, Jeffrey Legler; and one sister, Nora Morgan of Pickett.

Following services in Washington, PA on Friday, friends may call Sunday, July 11, 1992 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Richard Pritchard officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Pickett.
