GREEN LAKE Sandra Jean Huber, age 61, of Green Lake, died Thursday, July 24, 2003 at home.
She was born July 5, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Walter Carr and Caroline Belle Merigold. The Merigold family moved from South Bend to Portage, Wisconsin, then to Ripon and finally to Green Lake in 1952. Sandi graduated from Green Lake Public School in 1960 and the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse in 1964, with a degree in Physical Education.

She worked there for nine years and then left the school to pursue her love for antique furniture restoration. She operated antique shops in three different locations in Green Lake, culminating in the Green Lake Furniture Strippers, a very successful business on South Street. Annexed to the rear of the shop was her pride and joy, the Red Geranium Ice Cream Parlor, the first ice cream shop in Green Lake in many years.
In 1988, Sandi sold both businesses and retired. Her free time was devoted to gardening and restoration of antique trunks. She entered politics in Green Lake, serving in positions on the Planning Commission and the Park and Recreation Board. Sandi also served as the President of the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. She was instrumental in many beautification projects throughout the City. She was well known in the community for the regular rounds she made picking up litter throughout the City with her very good friend Peggy Ellis.
