Seppo Anto Vilkkila, age 71, of W1988 County Rd K. Markesan, Town of Green Lake, passed away Friday morning, September 9, 2005, at his home.
He was born July 21, 1934, in Saarijarvi, Finland, the son of Taito and Aino (Ruuska) Vilkkila. He was educated at Helsingin Teknillinen Opisto, Helsinki, Finland. Seppo received a Bachelor of Science Degree, and for 30 years he had been an electrical engineer for G.E. Medical Systems. Seppo had served in the Finnish Army from 1954-1955. On March 13, 1955 he married Anja Inkeri Lappalainen in Koupio, Finland. He had homes in Boyton Beach, Florida and Twin Lakes in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Finnish-American Societies of Florida, Milwaukee & Detroit, and a Board Member of Finnish-American Rest Home in Lake Worth, FL and Suomi Talo (Finnish House) in Lantana, FL.
Survivors include his wife, Anja Vilkkila of Boynton Beach, FL and Twin Lakes, WI; daughter, Mervi Vilkkila Bannasch (Bill) of Sussex, WI; sons, Arto Vilkkila (Julie Dudzik) of Franklin, WI, Matti Vilkkila (Ann McCabe) of Chicago, IL, and Pasi Vilkkila of Sussex; and granddaughter, Sara Vilkkila of Sussex. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Erkki.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorials in his name may be given to Suomi Talo (Finland House), c/o PO Box 371, Ripon, WI 54971.
