Shirley Bumby Sather

Shirley Bumby Sather, age 91, of Neenah, WI formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
Shirley was born November 23, 1920, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and June (Budd) Case. She graduated from High School in Fort Atkinson, WI and then attended Beloit College by scholarship. She married John E. Bumby in 1941 in Jefferson, WI and later married Kenneth L. Sather in 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a homemaker. Shirley was affiliated with The Ripon Library Association, the Green Lake Festival of Music, Ripon Women’s Club, Ripon Study Club, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Ripon Historical Society, Flag-Wavers, and the BZ Club.
She is survived by three sons, John “Jeff” Bumby of Ripon, WI, Edward Bumby of Tucson, AZ, William Bumby of Madison, WI, one daughter, Sarah Colonna of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Edward “Ward” Bumby of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth “Libby” Lailer of Hartland, WI, Kathryn “Katie” Radi of Hartland, WI, Emma Sacerdote of Pottstown, PA, Cristopher “Cris” Bumby of Ripon, WI, Margaret “Maggie” Twomey of Flagstaff, AZ, Sarah Anderson of Philadelphia, PA, Emily Turner of Newport Beach, CA, Ann Bumby of Santa Barbara, CA, Adam Podolski of West Hollywood, CA, Caitlin Bumby of Denver, CO; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister Barbara Zentner of Frederick, MD, and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husbands John E. Bumby and Kenneth L. Sather; brother Harley; and sister Harriet.
A gathering for Shirley Bumby Sather will be held on Sunday, May 6th, 2012, from 2-3 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI. 54971.
A celebration of life for Shirley Bumby Sather will be held Sunday, May 6th, 2012, at 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Father Thomas McAlpine will officiate. Memorials may be directed to Ripon Community Thrift Store and Food Pantry, 109 Watson Street, Ripon, WI and Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498.
