Shirley Ardell (Mielke) Zimdars, age 74, W13282 Carter Road, Ripon, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at her home.
Shirley was born August 6, 1931, in Waupun, a daughter to Emil and Helen (Hansen) Mielke. She attended County Line Country School, Waupun High School, and Dodge County Normal, completing 14 years of education. Shirley was a rural teacher from 1950-1954, and then became a housewife. She married Florian DuWayne Zimdars on September 11, 1954 at County Line Lutheran Church. Shirley was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon; Women of Grace; the Fairwater Historical Society, a past Springvalley 4-H general leader and project leader, and past member of the Fond du Lac County Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband, Florian; 2 daughters, Kathleen (Boyd) Schleicher, of Waunakee, and Linda (Duane) Van Loo, of Burnett; 3 sons, David (Audrey) Zimdars, Terry (Norine) Zimdars and Steven Zimdars, all of Ripon; brother, Gerald (Rita) Mielke of Markesan; 3 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Laper and Marlene Scott of Markesan, and Betty Mielke, Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren, Kirstin (Justin) Arndt, Matthew, Erich Schleicher, Danielle and Cory Van Loo, Kyle, Gregory, Diana, Aaron, Nathan and Seth Zimdars. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Niles Mielke; sister-in-law, LaVerna Hinz; and 3 brothers-in-law, John Laper, Art Hinz, and Gene Scott.
Funeral Services for Shirley Ardell Zimdars will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Pastor Alan Schaffmeyer officiating. Friends may call on Friday, March 17, 2006, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Saturday, March 18, from 1:00 2:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Bethel Reeds Corners Cemetery in the Town of Metomen. A memorial has been established.
