Steve Eldon Bennett, age 73, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, with his family at his side.
Steve was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on January 27, 1936, the son of Henry J. and Imogene (Copeland) Bennett. He went to Tucson High School in AZ, Era High School in TX, Farragut High School in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Sullivan High School in Rogers Park, IL. Steve served his country in the U.S. Army, and worked as a photo engraver at a printing company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 306 in Green Lake, WI, and enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene (nee Copack) Bennett of Green Lake, WI; one sister, Joy Baker of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Paul Nicopoulos of Chandler, AZ; one step-daughter, Kathleen DiGregorio of Lemont, IL; step-grandchildren, Amy DiGregorio, Kristen (Patrick) Durkin, Jennifer, and Joseph DiGregorio, all of Lemont, IL; two aunts, Magdaline Fellers of Gainesville, TX, and Vivian Davidson of Bedford, TX; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Judy) Copack of Henderson, NV, and Thomas (Kathie) Copack of Valrico, FL; one sister-in-law, Irene (Hal) Shroats of Homer Glen, IL; seven nephews; five nieces; 2 great nieces; 1 great nephew; and many cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Reba Jean Murray; his step-father, Peter Nicopoulos; one step-son-in-law, James DiGregorio; and four uncles one aunt; and 2 nephews.
Visitation for Steve Eldon Bennett will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. And again on Saturday, February 14, 2009 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Funeral service for Steve Eldon Bennett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Reverend Bryan Fritsch officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL. A memorial has been established in his name.
