Steven Louis Hilfer, 50, of Green Lake, the dearly beloved son of Astrid and the late Louis Hilfer, died on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in his sleep.
Steven was born on September 13, 1957 in Evanston, IL. He grew up in Glenview, IL, and spent his summers in Lauderdale Lakes, WI. He loved the outdoors and was an avid snow skier, fisherman and boatsman. After Steven graduated from high school, he graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. He married Catherine Bunker and was an Award winning Executive Chef at resorts and casinos for over 30 years. Steven belonged to various Chefs Associations.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Hilfer of Green Lake; his mother, Astrid Hilfer of Glenview, IL; two sisters, Joanne (Michael) Gresavage of Glenview, IL; and Mary Lou Marz of Ojai, CA; three nieces, Shannon Nelson, Megan Nelson (God daughter), and Bridget Nelson; all of Glenview; and two stepsons, Johnathan Bunker of Platteville, WI, and Nicholas Bunker of North Fond du Lac, WI. He was preceded in death by his father Louis Richard Hilfer.
Visitation for Steven L. Hilfer will be held from 3-5:30 pm, on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Steven L. Hilfer will be held at 5:30 pm, on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A memorial has been established for Sister Paulannes Needy Family Fund, in care of OLPH, 1775 Grove Street., Glenview, IL 60025.
