The Reverend Lorenz A. Kern, 90, of Evergreen Manor, Oshkosh, died Monday, October 13, 1989, at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh.
He was born December 11, 1898, in Hartford, to John and Alvina Parman Kern. On September 17, 1925, he married Alice Strutz.
Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Margaret Kern of Milwaukee. One daughter, Elaine Kern preceded him in 1986.
Reverend Kern entered United Methodist Ministry in the Wisconsin Conference (Evangelical United Brethren) in 1923. He was ordained an elder in 1926 and had appointments in Wauzeka 1923; Madison 1929; Waukesha 1936; Lake Mills 1945; Hartford 1949; Prairie du Sac Circuit 1957; Denmark-Mishicot 1965. He retired in 1969, and moved to Ripon. The past few years he has made his residence at Evergreen Manor in Oshkosh.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and Thursday from noon until the hour of services at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon.
Funeral services for Reverend Kern will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Immanuel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Robert LeCount officiating. Interment will be in Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon.
A memorial service will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at Evergreen Manor in Oshkosh, with the Reverend Ray Steger officiating.
