Thelma Marie Markham, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, July, 6, 2015, at Michalenes Assisted Living.
She was born on January 27, 1920, in La Grange, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Marie (Pierce) Hair. After high school, she worked in Chicago as a secretary for the Sun Times. She then worked at Brachs Candy Company. She married Robert Bruce in 1941 and they moved to Norridge, Illinois. In 1954, Robert and Thelma bought the Colonial Coffee Shop in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Robert died the following year. She married Charles Markham in 1958. After selling the coffee shop, she was secretary at Speed Queen for a number of years. She also arranged flowers for Flowers by David. She enjoyed collecting antiques and sold them with Charlie at his Second Hand Store in Ripon. She was a long time member of Eastern Star and enjoyed singing in the choir at the Federated Church of Green Lake.
Thelma is survived by her son, Robert (Jean) Bruce, Berlin, WI, and her daughter Marilyn (Ron) Conradt, Shiocton, WI. She is also survived by grandchildren, Becky (Pete) Bruce-Allington, Berlin, WI, Bob (Cindy) Bruce, Sandy, UT, Betsy (Brian DeMuri) Bruce, Berlin, WI, Lainie (Mike) Hintz, Appleton, WI, Lindsey (Craig Urban) Roberts, Shawano, WI; great grandchildren, Amaya, Amelia, and Peter Bruce-Allington, Alex and Jacqueline Bruce, Cecilia, Camille, and Gwendolyn Bruce-DeMuri, Xander and Nicko Hintz, and Madison Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents, both husbands, a sister, Norma Sadlon, and a sister in-law, Edith Wallshlaeger.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015, from 4:30 5:30 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for Thelma will be held July 20, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez will officiate. The Fond du Lac Chapter 289 Eastern Star will follow service with a brief ceremony.
