Thomas Kinas

Thomas David Kinas, 77, of Green Lake, passed away Sunday evening, November 13, 2005, at the Ripon Medical Center, Ripon after a long struggle with leukemia.

He was born April 18, 1928, in Appleton, the son of Oswald and Virginia (Johnson) Kinas. Tom graduated from Green Lake High School, attended UW-Madison, graduated from Wisconsin Institute of Tech of Platteville, and received his BS Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla, MO. Tom married Carole Gear on May 26, 1951, and they resided in Kellogg, Idaho before returning to Green Lake to work in the family business of Kopplin & Kinas. He was a Charter Member of the Green Lake Federated Church, 50 year member of the Prairie View Masonic Lodge F&AM #146, Kappa Alpha Fraternity, past Alderman of the City of Green Lake, and Vice-President of the Wisconsin Development Corp.

He is survived by his wife, Carole of Green Lake; children, Paul (Diana) Kinas of Green Lake, Mark (Pam) Kinas of Anaheim, CA, Peggy (James) First of Columbus, WI, Kevin (Michele) Kinas of Fountain Valley, CA, and Carolyn Kinas and fiance’ Hugh McWane of Ripon; grandchildren, Nicholas Vandervelde, Elliot, Virginia, Elizabeth and Darcie First, Jake and Hayley Kinas, and Devin Kinas; step-grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Rehkoph, Erick Rehkoph, and Michael, Rachael and Spc Stephen Dombrowski (now serving with the 127th Army National Guard in Iraq; and two brothers, Donald (Mary) Kinas and Ken (Mary) Kinas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Thomas D. Kinas will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2005, at the Federated Church of Green Lake with the Rev. Karen Gygax-Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will be again at the church from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday.
