Thomas I. Qualls, age 50, of Brandon, WI, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, as a result of a traffic accident at the intersection of State Roads 44 and 49 near Brandon, Fond du Lac County, WI.
He was born September 11, 1952, in Chicago, IL, a son to Clarence and Doris (Gollnick) Qualls. He received his education in Chicago, and graduated from George Washington H.S. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army. On January 2, 1982, he married Gwen M. Busse in Chicago. He had been a carpenter for twenty years, and for the past 3 years, had been employed as a union carpenter at Cardinal Construction in Fond du Lac. Tom was an avid fisherman, and was a member of Winnebagoland Musky Club and various fishing websites.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen M. Qualls of Brandon; three sons, Nicholas Qualls of IN, Thomas I. Qualls II and Andy E. Qualls, both of WI; mother & stepfather, Doris and James Higginbotham of IN; stepmother, Rachel Qualls of IN; two brothers, James E. (Nina) Higginbotham and Bill (Tina) Higginbotham, both of IN; and two sisters, Linda Qualls of IL and Tammy (Dennis) Skaggs of IN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Qualls; and father & mother-in-law, Clarence and Marie Busse.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, WI with the Reverend Kevin Scheuller officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. A memorial may be sent to the Thomas I. Qualls Family, P.O. Box 371, Ripon, WI 54971.
