Vallen Cotton

Vallen “Val” Frederick Cotton, age 76, of Ripon, WI passed away at Ripon Medical Center on
February 5th, 2022.

Vallen was born on July 1, 1945 in Ripon, WI, the son of the late Kenneth and Ferrel Cotton. Vallen worked for Leach Company in Oshkosh for most of his life until the time of his retirement.

Vallen enjoyed hunting, fishing, model railroading, and honing his shooting skills. For many
years he was a member of the Ripon Rifle and Pistol Club and he was also a member of Ripon Area
Model Railroad Club. Val also greatly enjoyed getting away to his trailer up north. Val was a skilled
woodworker and did a lot of projects for others.

He is survived by his daughter Christine (Gary Jr.) Malson and son Scott (Michelle Goodwin)
both of Ripon, sisters Jeannine (Ignacio Saldana) Hirokane of Green Bay, Judy (Dennis) Gurke of
Ripon, and brother Dennis (Georjean) Cotton of Markesan. He is further survived by his special
grandson, Jacob Byler of Ripon, granddaughter Xena Cotton, step grandchildren Brandon and Dylan
Malson, Gabriel Rymus, and Haliegh Bischoff, uncle Warren Cotton of Illinois, and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant half-brother Clark Eichmann, and his grandparents.

Visitation for Vallen will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 10 – 12:00 pm at Butzin-
Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral Service for Vallen will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Reverend Bryan Fritsch officiating. Interment will follow at Loper Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Ripon Rifle and Pistol Club or to Ripon Area Model Railroad Club.

For the safety of the family and friends, the family has requested that masks be worn while attending the visitation and service.
